There are endemic reptiles such as the painted-lip lizard and the other reptiles that dwell here are the saltwater crocodile, the Indian python and the water monitor. The park doesn't offer accommodation but excellent lodging can be secured in the adjacent areas of Sigiriya and Habarana. Minneriya National Park is in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. This became a national park in August 1997, having been declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1938. This was done to protect the catchment of Minneriya tank and the wildlife of the surrounding area and receives an average rainfall of 1,500-2,000 millimeters.
Sigiriya Rock : The ancient city of Sigiriya is one of seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka and a popular tourist attraction. The origins of the site – a city perched on the top of an enormous granite rock with picturesque gardens around the base – are disputed. It is a former 5th-century king’s fortress and palace, a Buddhist monastery or both. Whichever account is true, Sigiriya is a fascinating cultural and historical highlight of Sri Lanka.

Blessed with a salubrious climate, breathtaking views of valleys, meadows, mountains and greenery; it’s hard to imagine that Nuwara Eliya is only 180 Km from the hot and humid Colombo. Nuwara Eliya, also known as ‘Little’ England’, was the favorite hill station of the British who tried to create the resort into a typical English Village. The old brick Post office, country house like hill club, with its hunting pictures, mounted hunting trophies and fish, and it’s strict formal dinner attire; the 18 hole golf course, race course etc., evoke nostalgia of Colonial British Ceylon. There are many places of interests such as; Lake Gregory, Hakgala Botanical Gardens, Laxapana Falls, Lover’s Leap Waterfall, Nuwara Eliya Devon Falls Oliphant Estate – Nuwara Eliya the Ceylon Breweries – Nuwara Eliya Tea plantation and factory visit.

Little Adams Peak is located in the small mountain town of Ella, right in the heart of Sri Lanka. Hiking Little Adam’s Peak in Sri Lanka is one of the most epic things to do in Ella. The peak can be hiked easily without a guide, as there is a marked path that leads you up the mountain, with plenty of signposts to show you the way. You’ll see many other tourists walking the same path, which is a comforting sign when you’re doing a hike for the first time. The peak is not to be confused with Adam’s peak, which is a little way away and a considerably tougher and longer hike. It gets its name from Adam’s peak because this mountain replicates its shape, in a smaller form.

Galle :- The seaside town of Galle is 116 Km away from Colombo by road or rail, down the south coast of Sri Lanka. Both routes are picturesque, following the coastline closely for much of the way.
You can also take the Southern Expressway if you need to reach the city by half the time but there is not much scenery to admire. Today’s town has grown greatly and spreads into the surroundings but the Fort is the slow beating heart of Galle‘s history. The walled city has stood since the early sixteenth century, through the Colonial periods of the Portuguese, Dutch and British and in our present times is proclaimed as an Archaeological Reserve and has been identified as a living World Heritage Site. The etymology of the name Galle is explained as probably an altered form of the Sinhalese word “gala”: a cattle fold or posting-place from which the Portuguese named it Point-de-Galle. The simpler and more popular theory is found in the similarity of the Sinhalese word: gala, for rock, which the Portuguese duplicated by adopting the Latin word: Gallus, for rooster. They thus designed the coat-of-arms of the city as that of a rooster standing upon a rocky perch.
